The beauty of The Royal Botanical Gardens in Melbourne is very calming and soothing. This has also been a wonderful opportunity to catch up with friends met in other parts of the world who now live and work in Melbourne. One works for Australia Palestine Advocacy Network and we go to see a play called " A Tale of A City By The Sea" by Samah Sabawi. The play is set in Gaza and is a poetic journey into the lives of ordinary people struggling to find hope and love in areas affected by war and violence. It is a salient reminder that all is not well in many places of the world today -ultimately it is a story of human survival and tenacity. I am reminded of displaced people I know living in London who do a courageous job living "in between".
A visit to leafy Lygon Street, Melbourne's Little Italy is a perfect mood lifter. On a different note I am looking forward to visiting Royal Melbourne's Childrens Hospital tomorrow.
